In April 2022, news went viral about New Mexico becoming the first state to offer free tuition to all public colleges for students who reside in the state. This has raised both excitement and concern from the public, with some people saying it will benefit low-income families greatly and make college more accessible for all and others saying that there are no solid ways to make this promise financially feasible for the long run.
